Operations Assistant

Meteor Inkjet Ltd is seeking an Operations Assistant with primary responsibility for logistics. 

Meteor Inkjet Ltd is the world’s leading independent supplier of electronics, software, tools and services for industrial inkjet.  The company’s products drive printers in a wide range of markets including graphics, packaging, textiles and product decoration.  Being part of the busy operations team at Meteor, the Operations Assistant is responsible for logistics including picking, packing, and shipping products to world-wide customers.  Responsibilities include storeroom management, import and export and working within the wider business to ensure timely delivery.  The Operations Assistant may also be asked to help with other administrative support activities as may be required from time to time.  The successful candidate will enjoy working in a friendly, fast-paced, international environment made up of colleagues with can-do attitudes.  

The role will include:

  • Picking, packing and shipping orders while maintaining department schedule
  • Effectively using systems to accurately manage serial-numbered stock
  • Creating shipping labels and processing shipping information
  • Performing administrative duties including answering phones; updating employee records; scanning and filing documents; ordering office supplies and groceries; and performing other office management tasks
  • Projecting a professional image and providing excellent customer service
  • Ordering packaging materials in line with the company’s sustainability policy
  • Troubleshooting shipping, customer or administrative issues and working to resolve them including proactively improving warehouse processes and dispatch efficiencies
  • Developing knowledge of shipping regulations and practices
  • Working well within the team to fulfil orders on time
  • Performing any other ad hoc tasks related to shipping or office management


The job is based at Meteor’s headquarters at Harston, near Cambridge. 

Skills and Qualifications:

The candidate must have:

  • A-levels or equivalent (degree inessential, but welcome)
  • Computer literate including the Microsoft Office suite, especially proficiency in Excel

The candidate should ideally also have:

  • Excellent communications skills including accurate written English
  • An eye for detail
  • The ability to operate both individually and as a part of a tight-knit team
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Problem solving initiative and skill ​​
